Harbhajan Singh Predicts
In a recent YouTube video, Harbhajan Singh expressed his belief that Team India is the frontrunner in their opening match of the 2023 World Cup against Australia, scheduled to be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, October 8.
Harbhajan attributed India’s confidence to their recent successes, including their triumph in the Asia Cup 2023 and a 2-1 ODI series victory over Australia prior to the ICC event. He stated,
“It is 60-40 in India’s favor. India have played some very good cricket in the recent past. A young Indian team did very well against Australia in the ODI series, winning 2-1. The team also won the Asia Cup. So, they will be very confident at the moment.”
Notably, Team India secured consecutive wins in the first two ODIs of their home series against Australia, with the visitors salvaging pride with a 66-run victory in the third and final match.
Harbhajan Singh also emphasized the favorable conditions for India in Chennai, particularly the spin-friendly pitch. He pointed out that the bounce on the wicket will be advantageous for the batsmen. He said, “India has a very big advantage as the match is taking place in Chennai. The wicket over there will be slow. However, the good thing for batters will be the bounce. The bounce will be quite good. I don’t think there could have been a better venue for India’s first match.”
